Man who tried to steal from Walmart reportedly claimed he ordered online and showed bogus receipt

An Illinois man who was stopped trying to steal items from the Coralville WalMart allegedly claimed that he simply had ordered the items online and was at the store to collect them.

According to the arrest report, 37-year-old Paul Bohlander of Milan Illinois put a charcoal grill, a soundbar, and a barbeque tool set into his cart Wednesday afternoon. He allegedly claimed to having previously ordering the items online through the Walmart app and showed a screenshot of a receipt.

Bohlander left the store and was confronted by loss prevention, reportedly causing him to leave the items and walk away.  It was discovered the receipt on his phone did not match the items in his cart.

Bohlander was arrested and charged with  4th degree Theft, and could be sentenced to up to a year in jail if convicted.
