Coralville Fire Department responds to apartment blaze

The Coralville Fire Department responded to an apartment blaze early Wednesday morning.

According to a city news release, firefighters responded to an apartment fire at 915 20th Avenue at approximately 5:00 AM. The building’s sprinkler system extinguished the fire as firefighters were arriving on scene. Due to the quick response of the sprinkler system, the fire damage was contained to the balcony of a 3rd floor apartment and no smoke or water damage was reported.

Firefighters remained on the scene until about 6:30 AM. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Coralville Fire Department.

The damage was estimated at around $10,000.
