Iowa City Police will be doing their part to fight cancer over the next two months.

For the second year in a row, the ICPD and Police Association are partnering with the Pink Patch Project to support the fight against breast cancer and raise money for breast cancer research. During the month of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, pink ICPD patches will be available for sale to the public for $10. To purchase a patch, stop by the Iowa City Police Station, 410 E. Washington St. Patches are expected to sell quickly. Officers will also be wearing the patches on their uniform sleeves.

The ICPD will also be participating in No Shave November next month. Officers who donate will be allowed to sport beards, mustaches and goatees to raise awareness about cancer. Additionally, officers who donate may also wear a thin, pink strand weaved in their hair, or a strip of pink highlight hairspray.

Proceeds from the pink patches and No Shave November will be gifted to the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UIHC and the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
