Plea deal reached for man accused of having sex with minor

A plea deal has been reached for a rural Iowa City man accused of having sex with a child.
No details of the plea deal for 19-year-old Wilian Ramirez have been released, but online records show a sentencing date was set for May 6th during a court hearing on Friday.
Ramirez, of the Breckenridge Estates manufactured housing community on Taft Avenue SE, was arrested last June after a 12 or 13-year-old child at Twain Elementary School reported having sex with him. Police say Ramirez admitted to having sex with the child.
Ramirez is charged with 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, a Class C Felony punishable by a maximum of ten years in prison. Online records indicate the charge may have been reduced to Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse Causing Bodily Injury as part of the plea deal.
