Allegedly driving while drunk to confront his daughter’s boyfriend at his house has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.

According to Iowa City Police, 58-year-old Garry Gleason of Spring Ridge Drive drove to his daughter’s boyfriend’s residence on 2nd Avenue in Iowa City just after 7:15 Thursday night. Gleason allegedly banged on the door to be let in, and the resident who answered could smell alcohol on Gleason’s breath.

Arriving officers found Gleason outside. He showed multiple signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking three vodka shots prior to driving to the scene. Gleason failed field sobriety tests, and registered a .206% blood alcohol concentration on a portable Breathalyzer test.

Gleason was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense and was taken to Iowa City Police Department headquarters on East Washington Street for a Datamatser test, on which he registered a PBT of .193.

Gleason allegedly told police he never should have drank before driving, and doing so was “a stupid decision”.
