A Des Moines man faces charges that he stole and pawned a television set in Iowa City in order to get home.

According to Iowa City Police, 27-year-old William Hayes stole an RCA 50-inch TV from the victim’s residence on December 2nd, 2016 and pawned it later that day at Money & More on South Riverside Drive. Hayes texted the owner to tell her he stole and sold the TV because he needed the money to get home to Des Moines. The TV is valued at $379.99.
