CR woman arrested for allegedly stealing ring from sleeping victim at fitness center

Allegedly stealing a ring from a sleeping victim at a Coralville fitness center has led to a Cedar Rapids woman’s arrest.
Online records indicate Coralville Police were called to Anytime Fitness on James Street just after 3:45am Sunday. Investigators say 32-year-old Shamma Ray Jean Finch of 3rd Avenue Southeast entered the closed business through an unsecured door. She allegedly stole a ring valued at $2,100 that was sitting on a table. Police say in the process Finch woke up an individual who was sleeping inside the business.
Finch was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary. If convicted, she faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
