Online records show two of three charges have been dismissed against a Chicago woman accused of stabbing two people in an Iowa City apartment.

21-year-old Devian Hughes had faced charges of Going Armed With Intent, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury and Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon stemming from an incident on Miller Avenue. Iowa Courts Online shows the Going Armed With Intent and Assault charges have been dismissed.

The alleged victims and other witnesses told Iowa City Police a physical altercation broke out between Hughes and another woman about midnight on October 21st at a residence in the 900 block of Miller Avenue. The woman went outside to get away from the fight, but Hughes allegedly grabbed a knife and charged after the woman.

Arrest reports indicate a second female tried to stop Hughes, suffering a cut to her finger in the process. Hughes is then accused of knocking over the first woman and stabbing her multiple times. The others at the scene eventually pulled Hughes off the victim and tried to hold her down while the stabbing victim went to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of several stab, puncture, cut and slash wounds throughout her body.

If convicted on the original charges, Hughes would have faced a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. The Willful Injury charge she still faces carries a maximum sentence of ten years behind bars.
