Authorities say a Muscatine County man died after he was struck in the head by a firework in Atalissa last week.
According to The Des Moines Register, fire and medical personnel arrived at the 2300 block of Jefferson Avenue just after 3pm on July 3rd. There, they pronounced 53-year-old James Don McMichael dead.
The impact of the firework is the probable cause of death, according to a news release from the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office. The death is being treated as an accident.
