Iowa City Police say a man tried to steal a dog after hitting the owners in the face.
Officers were called to South Dubuque Street for a fight in front of The Sports Column just after 1:15am last Friday. Arrest records indicate 25-year-old Jerel Moore of Shamrock Place was identified by two witnesses as the instigator of the fracas. The alleged victims told investigators that Moore hit them in the face and tried to take their dog.
Moore is charged with Disorderly Conduct. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 days in jail.
