Allegedly threatening multiple people with a handgun while children were present has led to a North Liberty man’s arrest.
North Liberty Police were called to an address on Jaro Way just after 6pm Thursday. Witnesses say 54-year-old Allan Rieken, who lives at the residence, had been arguing with another individual when Rieken allegedly pulled out a 9mm handgun and stated, “I’m going to shoot some cops and then you.” A woman present tried to step between Rieken and his target, but Rieken allegedly shoved her to the ground.
Several children were present during the altercation.
Rieken allegedly walked away from arriving officers when given specific commands. When taken into custody, the gun was found in his waistband.
Rieken is charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon Provoking Fear, 1st Degree Harassment, Domestic Abuse Assault, Interference with Official Acts with a Dangerous Weapon and four counts of Child Endangerment. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over 25 years in prison.
