Kicking in a window to enter his friend’s house was a bad enough idea for an Iowa City man…an idea made even worse by the fact that he had the wrong address.
Iowa City Police say 19-year-old Riley Reynolds of the Modern Manor manufactured housing community on Scott Boulevard went to an address on Broadway Street…mistakenly believing it to be his friend’s…just after 9pm Monday and tried to go inside. When he was unable to enter the locked residence, Reynolds kicked in a screen and a window and entered the house.
Reynolds then encountered one of the residents, who told him to leave. He eventually did, but not before breaking a decorative shelf . Total damage was estimated at $700.
Reynolds was located by police a short time later. He showed multiple signs of intoxication, and cut his leg kicking in the window. His blood alcohol concentration was measured at .221.
Reynolds is charged with 4th Degree Criminal Mischief, Public Intoxication and Trespassing Causing Over $300 in Damage. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 25 months in prison.
