A Cedar Rapids man faces a stalking charge after allegedly harassing a Solon woman.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says the woman has a no-contact order against 41-year-old Chris Lala of Sherman Street Northeast. Lala has allegedly sent numerous Facebook messenger and Snapchat messages to the woman since late last month. The woman said she fears blocking Lala because she thinks his behavior could escalate and he could kill her.

Lala has a pending Domestic Abuse Assault – 2nd Offense charge as well as six pending No-Contact Order violations. He has a previous Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury conviction and two No-Contact Order convictions.

Lala now faces new charges of Stalking, 3rd Degree Harassment and a new No-Contact Order Violation. If convicted on the new charges, he faces a maximum of 26 months in prison.

Lala was arrested for OWI last May at on Main Boat Ramp Road in Solon after he was seen drinking in his car. Witnesses say he had earlier jumped into Lake MacBride while wearing a tutu.
