Allegedly mowing his neighbor’s yard while intoxicated has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.
Online records show a woman who lives on Thistle Court called Iowa City Police just after 4pm on November 15th to report that she had left her mower running in her yard to burn off gas for the winter. She said her allegedly intoxicated neighbor then took it and began mowing her yard.
The neighbor, identified as 29-year-old Neil Soukup, reportedly continued mowing, then cleaned up the mower. The woman confronted Soukup, who allegedly tried leaving with the mower. Police say Soukup yelled at the woman, called her names, spit on her and pushed her in the back.
When police arrived at Soukup’s residence, he reportedly refused to come out, and initially would only speak to them through the door. Soukup was eventually arrested and charged with Assault. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 days in jail.
Trial is set for January 2nd.
