Iowa City Police say a man intentionally tried to get hit by a car last weekend, leading to his arrest.
Officers were called to the corner of Capitol and Benton Streets just after 8:45pm on November 16th for a man running into traffic trying to get hit by a vehicle. The reporting party said the pedestrian had hit his car and was sitting on his hood.
The subject in question, 22-year-old Tyler Kent of South Linn Street, was pointed out by witnesses to arriving officers. Kent admitted to being in the roadway, but claimed he was provoked by the motorist. He showed multiple signs of intoxication and made little sense while talking to investigators.
Kent refused breath testing and was arrested for Public Intoxication. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65.
