A Cedar Rapids woman faces a drunk driving charge after an accident last spring that tied up traffic on Interstate 380.
35-year-old Kiarra Pearson of 18th Street Southeast was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 8:30 Saturday night. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says Pearson was travelling on southbound I-380 just after 4am on April 13th when she left the roadway and rolled her vehicle between the Penn Street exit and I-80. The car landed on its top, trapping Pearson inside. She was eventually extricated and taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Investigators say Pearson showed signs of intoxication, and blood samples were taken at the UIHC and sent to a DCI lab for testing. Results came back showing her blood alcohol content at .142%. The sample also tested positive for cannabis.
Pearson is charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
