The Iowa wrestling team is now the unanimous #1 team in the country.
That’s according to the latest NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll, released Tuesday.
Iowa received only 13 of 14 first-place votes in last week’s poll. They earned all 14 this week.
The Hawkeyes (3-0) were impressive in a 32-3 dual win at home against then-No. 6 Wisconsin. Highlighting the dual for Iowa was Austin DeSanto, who defeated top-ranked and 2018 NCAA Division I champion Seth Gross at 133 pounds.
The only other matchup between ranked teams saw Ohio State beat Cornell 23-9 at a sold-out Covelli Center in Columbus. Ohio State moved up one spot to No. 7 this week, while Cornell stayed No. 17.
Rounding out the top five after Iowa are Nebraska, Penn State, Arizona State and Virginia Tech.
Up next the Hawkeyes travel to New Jersey on Sunday at 1pm to face #12 Princeton.
