A Durant couple was taken into custody early Friday morning for their involvement in a pair of thefts from a Coral Ridge Mall sporting goods store.

Authorities say Douglas and Andrea Stalder of 1st Avenue went to Scheels on July 20th and allegedly worked in concert to take a pair of high-powered binoculars valued at nearly $2800. They concealed the item in a plastic bag, passed all points of sale and exited the store without attempting to pay for the merchandise. They then returned a second time, with Douglas concealing a bow rest valued at $250 with help from Andrea and leaving the store without paying.

A warrant was requested for the two, and they were booked into the Johnson County Jail before 5am Friday, charged with second degree theft, a Class D felony. If convicted, the two could face a prison sentence of up to five years.
