An armed Iowa City man has been arrested after police say he was caught on home security footage burglarizing a residence.
The owner of a house on Orchard Court was out of town when he or she noticed a subject inside moving the security cameras. The owner called Iowa City police, who arrived to find 23-year-old Adrian Dickerson of the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street leaving through the front door. Dickerson allegedly admitted to entering the house when he saw the side door had been left open. He also allegedly admitted to turning the security cameras and taking a can of pepper spray from the residence.
The pepper spray was found in Dickerson’s right front jacket pocket. He also had an approximately four-inch knife in his backpack.
Dickerson is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary and Carrying Weapons. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
