An Iowa City man has been taken into custody on a warrant stemming from an incident in May of this year when a search warrant allegedly turned up marijuana cartridges and a large amount of cash.
According to police, they were called to the 300 block of Cayman Avenue the afternoon of May 23rd for a shooting that had just occurred. Bryan Roach of Solar Street, now 30 years old, was identified as a tenant of the residence and had been shot.
He allegedly was uncooperative with officers during their investigation of the incident. Police were able to get a search warrant for the premises and allegedly located 26 marijuana cartridges in the trunk of Roach’s vehicle. Officers also reportedly recovered packaging material and a large amount of US currency.
A warrant for Roach’s arrest was issued on December 10th; he was booked into the Johnson County Jail Sunday afternoon and charged with a controlled substance violation, a class D felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years.
