An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly assaulting a woman.
According to police, they were called to the Amber Lane residence of 30-year-old Ruben Galvan on reports of a domestic disturbance. Upon investigation, it’s alleged that Galvan grabbed the woman by the throat and threw her against a wall. The woman reportedly had red marks on both sides of her neck.
The two have cohabitated within the last year, and a check of his records showed Galvan had been convicted of domestic abuse assault on September 27th of this year.
Galvan was taken into custody and charged with his second domestic abuse assault, which is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by incarceration of up to two years.
