An Iowa City man was taken into custody Sunday morning after a reported assault.
Arrest reports indicate that officers were called to the 1300 block of Tracy Lane for reports of a fight in progress at 8:49am. Upon arrival, they discovered there was an argument between 28-year-old Louis Kalfus of Gilbert Court and the victim in the hallway of the residence.
According to witnesses and the victim, Kalfus punched the man on the side of the head. He then took the man to the ground and punched him repeatedly. The victim reported pain and ringing in the ears, and officers noticed redness on the victim.
Kalfus was taken into custody and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of one year if convicted.
