State’s COVID-19 cases spike nearly 30 percent over last three days

Data from the state Department of Health confirms that the number of positive cases for COVID-19 have spiked nearly 30 percent over the last three days.
On Sunday, the IDPH said that an additional 384 cases and six deaths were reported, bringing the totals to 5476 cases and 118 deaths. That’s an increase of 28.4 percent in cases and 23.7 percent in deaths. 85 of Iowa’s 99 counties have had at least one case of COVID-19 reported.
The recovery rate is at 34.7 percent.
Polk and Blackhawk counties have the most confirmed cases, with 732 and 714 respectively. Linn County has the most reported deaths, with 34.
The state had its first weekend of drive-through testing in Des Moines, with more locations set to open in the future. A news release from the Department of Public Health says that 1 in 87 Iowans have been tested for coronavirus.
Governor Kim Reynolds is expected to release details on how she plans to open up some of the state’s businesses and services at her news conference later this morning.
