A Cedar Rapids gunshot victim is recovering at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Cedar Rapids Police received a report of shots fired in the area of Washington Avenue and 3rd Avenue SE at 2:49pm Saturday.
Upon arrival, officers found the driver of a vehicle had struck a pole, and that the driver had received a substantial injury as a result of a gunshot. The driver, a 23-year old male, was transported to the UIHC for emergency care.
The CRPD says its preliminary investigation indicates it was a targeted shooting.
