An Illinois man has been arrested after allegedly stealing wallets from University of Iowa students.
UI Police say 29-year-old Jacari Dismukes of Park Forest, Illinois is seen on security video stealing wallets from the bleachers near the basketball courts at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center just before 9:45pm on February 6th. One wallet contained $210 , while the other had $46.
Police say Dismukes had checked into the South Madison Street facility under his own name earlier in the day.
A warrant was issued for Dismukes’ arrest on February 11th. He was taken into custody just after 8pm Saturday after running a stop sign near the intersection of 1st Avenue and Bradford Drive. Marijuana was found inside the vehicle.
Dismukes now faces two charges of 5th Degree Theft and one of Possession of a Controlled Substance. He faces a maximum of 14 months in jail, if convicted.
A passenger in Dismukes’ vehicle Saturday night, 23-year-old DeJuan Jamison of the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street, also faces a Possession of a Controlled Substance charge.
