A Coralville man who was given a no-contact order Sunday morning is accused of violating it less than 90 minutes later.
Police went to the Denali Court residence of 35-year-old Julius Riley Sunday at 10am to do a follow-up on a domestic involving his wife. She informed the officer that Riley had contacted her by phone, and returned to the residence, in violation of a no-contact order that was issued that morning at 8:47.
Riley was taken from the premesis and jailed. He was charged with violation of a no-contact order.
A check of court records found that Riley was arrested in September of 2018. He was accused of burglarizing the upstairs apartment from his residence after one of the adults left to pick the other up from work. The couple’s two children, aged 3 and 13, were left alone at the residence. When the adults returned, they came upon Riley, who allegedly had some of their property in his pockets and over $800 worth of items gathered and moved to a room. The victims stopped Riley from leaving the apartment. He reportedly assaulted one of the victims before he was taken down and restrained until police arrived and arrested him.
Riley was convicted of burglary and sentenced to ten years suspended and three years probation in January of 2019. Other charges of assault, theft, and trespass were dismissed in a negotiated plea.
