An Iowa City man wanted on a weapons warrant from last month was located and jailed Wednesday morning.
According to the incident report, officers were dispatched to the area of Crosspark and Broadway on April 8th just after 11pm on reports of a shooting. 18-year-old Devioin Sanders of Taylor Drive was located in a vehicle leaving the scene.
A search warrant was executed on the vehicle, where officers allegedly found a Ruger 9 millimeter pistol under the back seat, behind the driver’s seat, where Sanders was sitting.
A subsequent search warrant on Sanders’ cellphone located numerous photos and videos with him and the recovered gun.
He was charged with Carrying Weapons, and the warrant for his arrest was executed Wednesday. He was booked into the Johnson County jail and could be sentenced to up to two years in prison if convicted.
