A Chicago man faces charges that he threatened to kill his mother at her Iowa City residence.
Iowa City Police say 28-year-old Robert Austin attempted to gain entry to his mother’s Westwinds Drive residence just before 6:30 Monday night. He allegedly threatened to kill her if she didn’t let him in.
An investigation determined that Austin had earlier punched holes in the apartment’s walls.
Austin is charged with 1st Degree Harassment and Domestic Abuse Assault – 3rd or Subsequent Offense. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
