An Illinois man has reached a plea deal in an Iowa City rape case.

Online records show 22-year-old Kameron Jordan of Downers Grove, IL reached the deal with prosecutors on Wednesday.

Jordan was arrested in the fall of 2018 for an incident which took place in October of 2017. Police say he was visiting someone in Iowa City when he entered that person’s roommate’s room and began masturbating and touching her while she was asleep.

The woman told police she woke up during the act and yelled at Jordan, at which time he dropped to the floor to hide from the woman. She eventually fell back asleep, and police say Jordan then got into her bed, covered her mouth and held her down while forcing her to have sex.

When the victim’s roommate – whom Jordan had been visiting – sent him a text message later, Jordan apologized for his choices, saying he was “in a remorse and self-disgust filled haze.”

Jordan was initially charged with 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse. If convicted, he could have faced up to 10 years in prison.

Terms of the plea deal have not been released. On Friday, Judge Paul Miller set a sentencing date for January 14th.
