A Des Moines area man faces charges that he ran over several North Liberty mailboxes while driving drunk.
45-year-old Zachary Kouri of Urbandale was called in as a reckless driver just before 9:15 Saturday night. Witnesses said Kouri’s GMC Acadia had hit several mailboxes and was driving on a flat tire.
North Liberty Police stopped Kouri near the corner of Weston Drive and Broadmoor Drive. He had a flat tire and his car had visible damage.
Police say Kouri admitted to having “a lot” to drink, showed signs of intoxication and told them he had run over a curb. He allegedly showed signs of impairment on field sobriety tests and registered a blood alcohol content of .143% on a Datamatser test.
Kouri is charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
