A Sunday afternoon house fire caused thousands in damage in Iowa City.
According to a release from the IC Fire Department, they responded to a residential house fire at 120 Potomic Avenue at 12:51pm. Within five minutes, the first units arrived to find an exterior fire extending into the attic of the single-story residence. Crews entered the single-family residence and had the fire under control in under 25 minutes.
The fire was contained to the garage and attic areas of the house. No residents or firefighters were injured. Initial damage estimates put the loss at around $50,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
