Sibling rivalry got out of hand for a pair of Iowa City brothers early Saturday morning, leading to one’s arrest.
Iowa City Police were called to an apartment on the 1600 block of Muscatine Avenue at 1:14am for a report of a mother and two brothers fighting. Arriving officers determined that 30-year-old William Williams had been fighting at his residence with his 16-year-old brother. Police say Williams admitted to assaulting his brother because his brother slapped and hit him first and “it wasn’t right”.
Further investigation determined that Williams grabbed his brother’s arm and scratched his neck, causing scratches and cuts around his throat. He also allegedly slightly cut off his brother’s airflow.
Police say the size difference between Williams and his brother is “significant”.
Williams is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
