The College Republicans group at Iowa State University is being criticized for an inflammatory tweet on their account Saturday.
KCCI TV reports that just after Joe Biden was projected as the next President of the United States, a tweet went up that said, “Everyone, you must arm up, expect these people to attempt to destroy your life, the elites want revenge on us.”
When asked for comment, ISU sent a statement to the TV station, saying that they were aware of the post, adding, “Any suggestion of armed activity by an Iowa State student organization is prohibited by university policy. Any conduct that violates university policy will be addressed in an appropriate manner.”
The tweet was still on the group’s page Sunday evening. ISU’s Twitter account responded with a post saying “Clearly, an offensive language/action of these individuals do not reflect the values we hold at IowaState. Thank you for being diligent.”
The College Republicans at Iowa State added fuel to the fire by posting a group picture , calling themselves the most oppressed group on campus. They also tweeted, “These BLM/Antifa freaks say to defund the police yet ask for help when they see us post epic content,” referencing University police.
KCCI reports that the group tweeted “We love our officers in Ames” Sunday evening.
