An argument over the results of the 2020 Presidential election turned physical last week, leading to an assault charge against an Iowa City man.
That’s according to Iowa City Police, who say 67-year-old Gregory Loibl of 3rd Avenue was at a residence on Douglass Court just before 11am last Friday when the incident occurred.
Police say the victim had originally invited Loibl over to watch a movie, but the discussion turned to the ongoing election results. The victim told Loibl to leave several times, but Loibl refused. Loibl eventually threw the victim to the ground before finally leaving.
Loibl later admitted to not leaving when asked and to throwing the victim to the ground. He’s charged with Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 30 days in jail.
