IC woman accused of damaging convenience store

An Iowa City woman has been taken into custody after getting into an argument at a convenience store and causing hundreds of dollars in damage.

According to police, 18-year-old Alize Hartison of Clearwater Court got into an argument at the Mormon Trek Kum & Go Friday around 12:30am. Officers were called, and Hartison allegedly admitted to damaging objects inside the store. Video footage reportedly shows Hartison pushing over a newspaper rack and a sunglasses stand. She’s also accused of grabbing and pushing the cash machine at the front counter, breaking it.

Damage was estimated at over $400.

Hartison was taken into custody and charged with 4th degree Criminal Mischief, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
