An Iowa City man who was arrested for domestic assault has been taken into custody after violating the no-contact order between the two and stalking the woman.
According to court documents, 48-year-old David White of Blackfoot Trail was arrested on October 23rd and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding Airflow, an aggravated misdemeanor. Subsequently, White is accused of violating the no –contact order that was issued between the two parties on several occasions.
On October 30th, White allegedly had a third party contact the woman for him. He showed up at the residence, had direct contact with the woman, and then reportedly grabbed a knife and threatened to kill himself. White allegedly contacted the woman again on November 5th, 12th, 22nd, and 23rd by phone and Facebook Messenger. He also sent her a hand-written letter postmarked on the 19th. As police were investigating the incident on the 12th, White allegedly tried to call the woman while an officer had her phone in his hands.
The woman states that White has told her that he doesn’t care about the no-contact order, repeatedly made vague suicidal statements, and said that he’s not going back to jail. The woman told officers that she’s annoyed and frightened by White’s repeated contacts.
A warrant for White’s arrest was issued on November 24th; he was picked up and transported to the Johnson County Jail Monday night, where he was initially charged with three violations of the no-contact order, and Stalking, a Class D Felony. White remains in the facility on $20,000 bond.
