An Iowa City man is in custody after being accused of having sexual relations with an underage girl on multiple occasions.
According to police, 19-year-old Luke Beckner of Wylde Green Road picked up two 14-year-old girls that he allegedly met on SnapChat the evening of December 22nd, and drove them to his residence. Beckner reportedly had marijuana in his vehicle and provided it to the minors.
One of the girls told authorities that over the course of the following four weeks, Beckner picked her up and drove her to his house where they had sex on eleven different occasions. When questioned, Beckner allegedly said he had seen the girl in person on three or four occasions but denied having relations with her.
During the course of their investigation, authorities obtained records that corroborated the victim’s account of Beckner picking her up and traveling to his residence.
A warrant for Beckner’s arrest was issued Wednesday, and he was arrested Thursday afternoon. He’s charged with 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse and Distribution of Drugs to a Minor. If convicted on both counts, Beckner faces up to 35 years in prison.
