Allegedly writing a bad check for a new scooter has led to the arrest of a West Branch man.

Iowa City Police say 40-year-old Jeremiah Walker of Bradly Lane wrote a check for $1,858.87 to pay for a 2021 Matte Blue Scootstar Roguestar 50cc scooter at Kelly’s Auto & Powersports on South Riverside Drive in August of last year.  Walker allegedly wrote the check knowing there were insufficient funds in his bank account. The check bounced, and police say several attempts to contact Walker were unsuccessful.

Walker was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 1:15 Friday morning and charged with 2nd Degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
