A Cedar Rapids woman who was allegedly found with drugs during an OWI stop has been taken into custody.

Police stopped 38-year-old Nichole Peyton of Fruitland Boulevard Southwest as she was traveling southbound on Highway 218 just before 7pm on May 18th. She allegedly was driving a vehicle without plates.

Upon contact, Peyton and her passengers reportedly had open containers, and she admitted to drinking. A subsequent vehicle search allegedly turned up a backpack belonging to Peyton that contained meth and other drug paraphernalia. Pipes and prescription drugs were also reportedly discovered, though the pills were not prescribed to Peyton.

She then requested an ambulance, alleging that she was having a panic attack.

Once the drugs were tested, a warrant for Peyton’s arrest was issued. She was taken into custody Sunday morning and faces 2nd offense OWI, Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs, and a 3rd or subsequent Controlled Substance violation. If convicted on all charges, Peyton could be sentenced to up to eight years in prison.
