UPDATE 10/10/22

The Coralville Fire Department sent out an official release on the fire on the Coralville Strip Saturday night.

Crews responded to a building fire at 304 2nd St at approximately 7:00 pm. Fire damage was contained to the 3rd floor and roof area of the building; however, the remainder of the units in the building sustained smoke and water damage. Because the fire was located between the 3rd floor ceiling and the roof area, it took fire personnel several hours to extinguish, and crews remained on the scene until about 3:00 AM Sunday. Coralville Strip traffic was blocked temporarily while the fire was brought under control.

Several occupants of the complex were home at the time of the fire and got out safely under their own power. All apartment residents have been displaced because of the fire, and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is still under investigation by the Coralville Fire Department; there is not a damage estimate at this time.
