Ann McKenna named College of Engineering dean

The University of Iowa has announced the new dean of its College of Engineering.

According to Iowa Now, Ann F. McKenna, current vice dean of strategic advancement at the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University and professor of engineering in the Polytechnic School, will begin in her new role on August. 16th.

McKenna succeeds Harriet Nembhard, who announced in December 2022 she had been named president of Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California, and would begin the new role on July 1.

Before joining Arizona State University, McKenna served as a program director at the National Science Foundation in the Division of Undergraduate Education and was the director of education improvement in the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

McKenna’s appointment is pending approval by the State Board of Regents.
