An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday night after allegedly driving drunk with three children.

Police stopped 24-year-old Chico Williams on the 2300 block of Muscatine Avenue just after 7:30 after an officer observed traffic violations.  A strong odor of marijuana was allegedly coming from the vehicle and Williams reportedly showed signs of impairment.  He performed poorly on field tests, and a PBT was inconsistent with his level of impairment. Williams refused chemical testing.

During a probable cause search, a substantial amount of marijuana was allegedly found.

Williams was arrested and charged with OWI first offense and three counts of Child Endangerment due to his having three unrestrained children aged 2,3 and 4 in the vehicle with him.  He also faces a charge of Interference with Official Acts after he allegedly refused to sit in the squad car post-arrest and had to be physically placed inside.

If convicted on all counts, Williams could be sentenced to up to over seven years in prison.
