A seventh Johnson County Jail inmate is accused of assaulting a fellow inmate earlier this week.

Police records indicate 31-year-old transient Corey Stovall is now charged with Participating in a Riot following the incident, which reportedly occurred just after 2:45 Tuesday afternoon. Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies say a group of inmates entered a cell where they assaulted the victim.  During the assault, the victim was physically prevented from escaping.

Six other inmates already face the same rioting charge as Stovall. They include 24-year-old Montrice Clark of Iowa City; 34-year-old Cardale Hunter of Dolton, Illinois; 36-year-old Brandon Mitchell of Iowa City; 30-year-old Jesse Nicastri of Coralville; 19-year-old Bryant Wallace of Marion; and 19-year-old Mekhi Wright of Cedar Rapids. Each man could be sentenced to up to five years in prison if convicted.
