An Iowa City woman was arrested Friday night after allegedly forcing herself into her neighbor’s house and locking herself in a bathroom.

The neighbor called police just before midnight to report an assault. She accused 56-year-old Lorna Jones of Beach View Drive of forcibly entering the home from the porch.  A small struggle ensued, and police noted red marks on the neighbor’s body that she said would eventually become bruises. The woman was reportedly visibly distraught when deputies were with her.

Jones refused to vacate the restroom, despite multiple requests from the homeowner and police. Jones finally relented and came out of the restroom. She was told by deputies to put her hands behind her back, but Jones allegedly refused, causing them to force her to the ground and into handcuffs. She also reportedly struggled with deputies the whole time she was escorted from the residence and attempted to kick them.

Jones was charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury, Trespass causing Injury, and Interference with Official Acts. If convicted on all counts, Jones could be sentenced to up to 25 months in jail. A no-contact order was requested between the two neighbors.
