An Iowa City man has been charged after allegedly violating a no-contact order and assaulting the subject of the order.

Police say the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon at the residence of the protected party.  44-year-old Zachary Kriz allegedly violated his no-contact order with the protected party aby throwing objects at her.  He then reportedly tackled the woman in a closet, grabbed the back of her neck to hold her down, then thrashed her from side to side on the closet floor.

Police arrested Kriz and charged him with violating the no-contact order, Domestic Abuse Assault 3rd or Subsequent Offense, Assault on the subject of a No Contact Order, and False Imprisonment. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 11 years in prison.
