An Iowa City man was charged with his third Operating While Intoxicated offense early Friday.
33-year-old Terrell Scott of Dodge Street was reportedly traveling the wrong way on Jefferson Street a little past 2:30 am and was stopped by police. He provided an Iowa ID and allegedly admitted that he didn’t have a license.
Scott was reportedly observed with bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and had the odor of ingested alcohol. An open container of vodka was located on the passenger side floorboard, and Scott allegedly admitted to drinking.
After showing measurable impairment on field tests, he refused chemical testing.
A check of Scott’s criminal record showed previous OWIs in 2023 and 2024. He was charged with his third offense, as well as driving while barred. If convicted on both charges, Scott could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
