Sen. Bernie Sanders is coming to Iowa City later this month.
Sanders’ office announced on Wednesday that the Vermont independent’s “Fighting Oligarchy: Where We Go From Here” campaign is coming to the Englert Theater at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 22nd.
The new campaign specifically targets areas won by Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election but also elected a Republican to the U.S. House in 2024. That would include Johnson County, which is represented by Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks in the U.S. House. A news release says Sanders will speak about fighting back against President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk, who has been a key part of shaping the early weeks of Trump’s second term.
