Joann Fabric has announced plans to close about 500 of its stores in the United States…and the Iowa City location is on the list.
Last month, Joann filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the second time in a year. The fabric and craft retailer announced Wednesday that in response to sluggish sales, it would be closing its most underperforming locations. A list released by the company includes the location at the Iowa City Marketplace, and well as its store in Muscatine.
Joann has about 800 stores nationwide. No closing date for the Iowa City store has been announced.
