The City of Iowa City is seeking public input on the Burlington Street Bridge – Building Better Connections project. A 15-minute conceptual alternatives survey can be found at https://hdr.jotform.com/team/public/burlingtonbridgeconceptalternatives
The survey closes Friday.
The Burlington Street Bridge – Building Better Connections project is a planning study and will:
-Replace the Burlington Street east and westbound bridges with a single bridge.
-Provide roadway and geometric improvements to Burlington Street, Grand Avenue, Melrose Avenue, and Byington Road, including the conversion of Melrose Avenue and Byington Road to accommodate two-way traffic.
-Assess ways to improve the bridge and adjacent roadways to better accommodate vehicle, bus, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic.
-Evaluate pedestrian connections and repair or replacement of the pedestrian bridges over Riverside Drive and Grand Avenue.
-Assess the existing Iowa River dam for potential modifications.
