A Benton County man who broke a window out of an Iowa City sports bar last year is now accused of doing the same thing at a North Liberty sports bar Wednesday night.
North Liberty Police say 31-year-old Lance Degen of Vinton broke out a window at The Leaderboard on Meade Drive just after 7:15 p.m., then fled the scene. Damage was estimated at $1,500.
Arriving officers found Degen nearby. He allegedly ran, and once in custody had to be carried to the squad car. Degen reportedly spit on an officer.
Degen is charged with 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations, Interference With Official Acts and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of over six years in prison.
Degen was given a suspended sentence last year after shattering a window at The Sports Column in downtown Iowa City on New Year’s Eve.
